Nach seinem Gymnasialabschluss studierte Kalousek am Konservatorium in Brno die Fächer Komposition und Dirigieren, an der Musikfakultät der Janáček-Akademie Brno erwarb er anschließend seinen Abschluss im Fach Orchesterdirigieren. Von 2006 bis 2008 studierte er an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig und Weimar, im Rahmen von Meisterkursen begegnete er Dirigenten wie Kurt Masur, Fabio Luisi oder Zsolt Nagy.
Kalousek has been the choirmaster of Ars Brunensis since 2000. He has performed a number of concerts throughout Europe with this ensemble. As a conductor, he has worked and continues to work with ensembles from the Czech Republic and abroad, including philharmonic and chamber orchestras such as the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc and the Czech Virtuosi, choirs such as the Jena Madrigal Circle, the Bohemia Choir and the Brno Academic Choir, and theatres such as the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre, the F. X. Šalda Theatre, the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor and the Walensee Stage.
Kalousek has worked on various projects with many outstanding artists such as Vladimír Franz and Jiří Pavlica.
As a conductor and music director, he is involved in recordings of film and stage music for leading Czech theatres, for radio and television, but also for foreign productions. For music publishers such as Naxos, Vienna Modern Masters, Supraphon, Capstone Records and Querstand, he has recorded numerous compositions, primarily by contemporary authors.
Since 2003, Kalousek has been a guest conductor at Brno City Theatre several times, where he has already rehearsed and conducted numerous works. He is currently musical director and chief conductor at Brno City Theatre. He also teaches at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno.

Kateřina Málková was born in Znojmo. She received her first musical education at the music school in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou. In 1998 she was accepted to the Brno Conservatory in the class of Prof. Petr Kolař, where she completed her studies in 2004 with a final concert at the Besední dům. This year she was accepted to the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of Doc. Jaroslav Tůma at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. After performing at her successful bachelor's concert, she completed a one-year internship abroad in Germany in 2008 at the University of Music in Lübeck, where she studied with Prof. Arvid Gast. Here she performed at several concerts, for example in St Jacob's Church, the cathedral, etc. In 2010 she completed a master concert at HAMU as part of the concert series "The Best" with the North Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra in Teplice with an organ concerto by F. Poulenc. Within the school, she performed at the Kabeláč and Messiaen festivals, for example, or at contemporary music concerts organised by the composition department, etc. During her studies, she attended a number of masterclasses given by important organ personalities such as Marie Claire Alain, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Andreas Schröder, Jon Laukvik, Martin Sander, Martin Schmeding, Slawomir Kaminski, Matthias Maierhoffer and Pier Damiano Peretti and Gustav Leonhardt.
Currently, she performs solo at festivals such as the Eduard Nápravník International Music Festival, Podblanický podzim, Organ Autumn in Štětí, Suk Music Festival Štiřín, etc. In Slovakia, she performed at the European Organ Festival in Kremnica. Kateřina Málková has given concerts in Germany, Latvia and Lithuania. She works with various Czech orchestras, including the Czech National Symphony Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the North Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Atlantis Orchestra the Collegium magistrorum Mikulov and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra.
